Arrived in Salzburg, Austria yesterday and checked into the Schloss Fuschl Hotel which use to be the emperor’s hunting castle. They later converted it into a high end hotel which sits right on Lake Fuschl. 30 minutes outside of downtown Salzburg offers you the calmness of being by the mountains and the wonderful sights of the lake. Here are some images taken from the grounds of Schloss Fuschl.
Potato Sticks is what they called these amazing fries. They are actually more like pomme souffle which are very hard to find. They are crispy on the outside and hollow on the inside. The perfect snack to graze on while enjoying your mulled wine
Old school bar that serves $350/half ounce scotch (with only 2 bottles left aged 200 years old) and one of the tastiest cocktail creations called Red Passion (which won 2nd place in a mixology competition in Europe) Amareno cherries, chocolate, passion fruit are just some of the flavors that are injected in this cocktail. You can smell all these flavors as you bring the glass to your lips and the taste moves from chocolate to cherries to passion fruit in a gradual progression that is very smooth. It’s a must try!
The spread…The best part is the surprisingly wide array of healthy options. Soy milk, flax, kombucha, all sorts of muesli, wheat germ, honey from the honey comb, yogurts, smoked fish and fresh unpasteurized cheese which I’m a huge fan of. They even had fresh lychee which was a big bonus for me:)
Stay tuned for more on my mini trip to Salzburg, including tidbits on Mozarts birthplace, Mozart’s cafe, old forts, and little shopping villages.
