Took a brief few days off for Labor Day to unwind this past weekend. It was a much needed short vacation for me as I’m about to embark on my grueling 7 day work weeks again for the next two weeks. While I didn’t have an incredible amount of time to stuff my face silly with all the amazing new restaurants in LA, I did make sure to make a few visits on my long checklist for future LA trips.
LA if you don’t all know already holds a very special place in my heart. I went to college in LA (Go Trojans!) and some of my best friends are all in LA. I also have some really fond memories there from my brief stints at various corporate jobs, to relationships, to discovering restaurants, nightlight, shopping and beaches. Every neighborhood I go, I seem to have some story or connection to it from all the years I’ve spent there.
So on this trip, I made sure I did a few things I use to do and also tried out a few new places. On that list, Malibu was on the top. I spent many a summer nights out there and use to frequent the Malibu Country Mart for some shopping and some great eats (mainly Malibu Kitchen for their Reuben which is to DIE FOR) This time around however, I walked around, did a little shopping, walked the beach and decided to give the New NOBU a try. The location beats the old by miles. It’s absolutely stunning! The space is modern zen with an incredible deck for diners to dine alfresco, right along the beach. THe cocktails are delish and the weather is perfect. I couldn’t think of a better place to be for lunch after trekking around lovely Malibu. Here are some pics and a recap of all the delectable eats at NOBU.
